Work is going great, I’m leaving for Bonnaroo in two days, I’ve got my ticket for my last show at Maxwell’s, and I just reserved tickets for a taping of The Daily Show in August.  Despite the shit weather, life is good.

Welcome to the first (and probably the last) of Depressing Music For Depressing Weather.  It’s a great day to mope around at work, listen to Joy Division, and pretend you know what you’re doing.

“Coney Island High” - The Everymen, New Jersey Hardcore

Just bought my ticket for The Everymen, Life Eaters, Black Wine, and The Brooklyn What.  I figure my last Maxwell’s experience ought to be the authentic Maxwell’s experience: a bunch of lame (but awesome) indie-pop-punk-whatever bands who still haven’t hit it big.

“Porno and Snuff Films” - The Lawrence Arms, Apathy and Exhaustion

What started as a night of just hanging out with a couple friends ended up with everyone I know still on campus in my room cheering for the Blackhawks.  And what better way to do so with pizzas, 40s, and The Larry Arms?  If you listen closely, you can hear NBC stop sucking Los Angeles’ dick…for now.

Well, I’ve accomplished absolutely nothing at work in the last three days.  But it’s only a week until I leave for Bonnaroo so that’s something.

“Heartbreaker” - Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II

It’s too hot.  All I want to do is lay in this hammock, drink beer, and listen to Led Zeppelin on full blast.

“I Hear Satan” - Dax Riggs, Say Goodnight to the World

How have I never listened to Dax Riggs’ solo material before?  This album is wonderful for a hot-as-balls day like today. 

“21st Century (Digital Boy)” - Bad Religion, Stranger Than Fiction

It’s a great day for kicking back, spinning some tunes, and “working” from home.

Muddy Waters and cheap whiskey.  It’s a great night. If only it wasn’t so damn cold…

“Rebel Yell” - Billy Idol, Rebel Yell

Well, my first week of my research job was great.  I’m working with freshmen and I’ve accomplished nothing so far.  In other news, I just found a $15 bottle of bourbon called Rebel Yell.  Somehow, I don’t think Billy Idol would ever drink this.  It tastes like shit.

I’ve decided that my new goal for the summer is to make my way through Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.  Might as well start at the top.  Here we go.

Well it’s finally summer.  That means for the next three months, I’ll be working 2 hours a day but get paid 7.  It also means a time to catch up on listening to new music, reading comics, and watching silly movies.  Oh, and even more playoffs hockey.
